Song Composer

Uses the exact same instrument bank, ADSR envelopes, and echo bus as The Legend of Math's game engine — anything you export here will sound identical when pasted into the game.

Song Settings

The overall loop length is computed automatically — it's the least common multiple of every track's own Loop Length (below, in the Track Editor), so each track lands back on beat 1 together only once the whole pattern repeats. See a track's Loop Length field to set up polyrhythms.

Echo / Reverb Bus (applies to the whole song — each track's Reverb Send controls how much of THAT track feeds into it)

Keyboard → Note Map

Octave base: 4

Hold a key — or click/tap a rectangle below — to hear that note played through the currently-selected track's instrument. Only one note sounds at a time per track (real instruments/chords: use multiple tracks). While Step Record is ON, pressing/clicking a note adds it to the sequence — see Step Record below.

Track Editor

This track repeats its own melody every Loop Length beats, independently of the other tracks — that's what makes polyrhythms possible (e.g. one track at 4 beats against another at 3). The overall song loop (Song Settings above) is computed as the least common multiple of all 8 tracks' Loop Lengths.

ADSR — Attack/Decay/Release are % of each note's own length; Sustain is a volume level (%)
Beat: 0.0 / 8

Step Record OFF: pressing/clicking a note just plays it (test instruments/ADSR freely). Step Record ON: press/click a note and it's immediately added to the sequence using the Step Duration above, then the duration field is ready for the next note. Add Rest inserts silence of that same duration instead.

Full Song Playback

Metronome clicks along during Play This Track and Play All Tracks (a distinct, higher click marks beat 1 of each measure). It doesn't get exported — it's just for your ears while composing.
